“If you don’t vote you can’t complain!” Really?
I don’t know if anyone has noticed but voting season after voting season comes and goes and what is the result? Well, if the previous four years were good for said constituent then they will vote for the incumbent but if the previous four years were bad then they’ll most likely vote for the opponent. Unless of course that opponent is a member of the party which the constituent believes is the cause of all the ills of the entire nation. In such a case they may simply abstain.
I used to vote for a third party candidate because I figured out a long time ago that there was virtually no difference between the two major parties. In my opinion, the only time you can tell them apart is at when it’s time for the campaign to begin then the gloves come off.
I can’t tell you how many times friends and family decried that I was throwing away my vote by voting third party. Well, the truth is, they were right. In fact voting for any candidate is throwing your vote away. Besides the fact that the Republicans and Democrats don’t offer any candidates of substance, even if you voted Libertarian, Green Party, Tea Party or Independent it would matter very little if at all.
The reality is that voting actually lends credence to a system that no longer deserves any credence whatsoever. The entire government from the Federal all the way down to the smallest municipalities are corrupt and just like there was no hope for Humpty Dumpty there is no hope for the great American experiment.
I would argue that the only hope for the USA is for voters to completely remove themselves from the process altogether by not participating in what has become a complete sham. It is time to dissolve the present government and start from scratch as John Locke iterated in his Second Treatise on Government. I would wholeheartedly agree with Locke when he said, “Sec. 229.) The end of government is the good of mankind;”. However, I don’t believe that any human government will ever completely succeed as all human government ends in corruption.
I do believe that the Anarchist model is preferable to other forms of government because it has much less propensity for the centralization of power which is a major flaw of all other forms of government. (The only perfect form of government would be a perfectly just and benevolent king but that ain’t gonna happen ’til Jesus comes, if you believe such things. I do.) Governments, no matter how noble their beginnings, always end up subjugating the people and spiraling downwards into a never ending cyclone of power, sucking the life and substance out of the people, ultimately ending up as an interminable parasite, feeding until there is nothing left of the host or until the host may figure out a way to put it to death.
It should be obvious by now that voting doesn’t work. Making your voice heard at the voting booth does nothing because all one is doing when one votes is voting for the “lesser of two evils” and how has that been working out I ask you? Further more, as I pointed out above, even if you do vote for a third party candidate and they actually managed to be elected they would end up no different than the one whom they’ve replaced because a few independents will have no effect upon a system which is completely entrenched with corruption.
The fact of the matter is that the U.S. government, as with almost all governments, is nothing more or less than a crime syndicate with each branch supporting the other in the task of the most massive theft in the history of mankind. There are no “checks and balances” because each branch of the government is in collusion with the other. It’s like asking the police to police themselves which is what they do and why there is such resentment by parts of the public who believe there is an inequality of justice.
The American experiment is winding down and with all of the problems the US has there can be little doubt that we are in decline and there is, in my opinion, no hope of climbing back up from the abyss. So go ahead and continue to vote if it makes you feel better but I am certain it will do nothing to stop the decline and inevitable collapse of the U.S. system.
