So what is a “Trumpolite” you may ask? Basically it’s just President Trump’s constituency but more specifically, it’s those who ascribe things to Trump, as far as what he has accomplished or will accomplish as the President, that are not based in reality but simply taken by faith.
Let’s start with something that Trump claims to have accomplished since he has taken office and expound upon it; for example, the Stock Market as being proof of how well the economy is doing. Many Trump supporters readily accept Trump’s claim that the “economy is Booming!” and that the massive rise in the Stock Market is the proof. But what about Trump’s claim, during the presidential campaign that, the Stock Market is in a “big fat, ugly bubble”? How is it that now that he is President and the Stock Market has gone up even more that that proves the economy is booming? Would it not be more reasonable to assume that the bubble is now an even bigger bubble than it was before? I mean, if it was in a bubble before the election and now it’s not, then when did it pop or deflate? I’d think if it had popped everyone would certainly be aware of it, but if it never popped and it continued to go up, then the only rational conclusion to come to is that it’s in a bigger bubble than before. So if the Stock Market being extremely high is all there is to offer as proof of a great economy and everything else is basically unchanged which, so far as I can tell it is, then if you believe what Trump is claiming you are likely a Trumpolite. Regardless of there supposedly being more jobs and unemployment going down, I can tell you for a fact that my paycheck has not gone up and it buys less this year than it did last year and I’m sure that’s true for a lot of people including the Trumpolites but it’s going to take a much stronger salve to clear their vision I’m sure.
So how about another example of a Trump claim. He recently claimed that “we” are going to get a lot of money from tariffs he’s going to place on cars imported from Canada. Somehow Trump supporters believe that these tariffs are going to “Make America great again.” But who does President Trump and the Trumpolites think are going to pay the TAXes on the imports from Canada or China or anywhere else the US imports products from? Americans paying 5%, 10% or 25% more for the products they want to buy will make Americans poorer, that’s for sure. So, if you think Trump making you pay more for almost everything you buy will make America great again then you are not only a Trumpolite, you and Trump are both delusional!
Now let’s talk about the Deficit. If we’re to believe what Trumpolites post on Facebook, then you know that Trump has done all these wonderful things that Obama didn’t do like lowering the deficit. However, the facts in evidence show that just this past August the US experienced the largest single month deficit in it’s history of $214 Billion. While revenues were up 1% spending is up 30% so another Trumpian meme bites the dust but that won’t deter the Trumpolites I’m sure.
We could go on and on but what’s the point? While I like that Trump is a burr in the saddle of the main stream media and he drives leftists out of their minds (a short drive to be sure) and he has rolled back a few onerous regulations as well, the sad fact is that he is also a tool for the Military Industrial Complex and has shown little to no backbone at resisting his neocon, deep state appointees when it comes to foreign policy and massive military spending.
That reminds me, why on earth does he continue to hire people that clearly work against him? I can only conclude that he either doesn’t understand how Washington works (very likely) or that he doesn’t want to end up with a bullet in his head. Most likely, it’s not either- or but both. I know one thing for sure. He is NOT a man of principles and has no guiding philosophy about what the role of government should be in a free society. He surely knows little to nothing about the Constitution and the ideals of republicanism and he doesn’t have a clue about what made America great because he doesn’t know when it was great and that it wasn’t government that made it great. And unfortunately the Trumpolites don’t know either. They only know that he was surely better than the alternative and that may be true but in all likelihood things would probably have not been much different if Hillary had won. The inevitable fall may have come a bit sooner because of the lack of fake confidence that the people now have; not understanding that all the good things they believe are happening are really just one “BIG FAT UGLY BUBBLE” that will soon explode bringing the Trumpolites back to reality the hard way.
While I know that people in a cult don’t know they’re in a cult and I’m not saying that every Trump supporter is a Trumpolite but I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that even Trumpolites can discern the truth when presented with clear evidence and even if you don’t think you are a Trumpolite I still recommend that this recent speech given by David Stockman at the Mises Supporters Summit Institute may be a great aid in removing the rose colored Trumpolite perscription glasses you may be wearing. In case you don’t know who David Stockman is, he’s a former Congressman, former Reagan administration appointee to the Office of Management and Budget, an author of several book including the Great Deformation and a very insightful blogger and commentator.
