Why is it illegal to pay people for donating an organ? “They” say it’s Unethical! I listened to this entire HBO program “Tales from the organ trade” and at no time did anyone who was interviewed ever explain WHY it’s unethical, they just say that it is.
If you own yourself and your body should you not be able to do what you wish with it? If a rich man needs a kidney and he is willing to pay you for it why should the government make it against the law? Or if a poor woman needs a kidney and crowd funding is willing to pay a donor for it why is that wrong?
What they’ve done, by making it against the law, is to cause the exploitation of poor people which is the very thing they claim they’re trying to prevent. Instead of the poor person getting the $100,000 the middle man gets it.
Compensating people for organs being illegal also greatly increases the risks to the desperately poor people who aren’t always properly cared for and who sometimes don’t get paid by the broker what they were told. Again, the interference of these self righteous, self appointed protectors of mankind, who are using the power of government to enforce their own values on everyone else, has caused more harm by far than letting people control their own lives could ever do.
All the exploitation of the poor that they claim it causes is because it’s illegal. As things are now you can only donate an organ if you do it for free. If playing on people’s emotions and trying to get them to donate for purely altruistic reasons isn’t wrong or butchery, then how does adding compensation for the part suddenly create a moral dilemma? So it’s only ethical if the doctors and the recipient get something for nothing? Maybe the millions of dollars that companies are getting for dialysis machines might have something to do with it. People with renal failure can be on these machines for decades. Just a thought.
The funny thing about it is that these self-righteous persecutors can’t get any of the, so called “exploited” to testify that they were exploited. None of them feels exploited. They got what they wanted and almost all of them say that it also makes them happy that they’ve helped save someone else’s life.
The “State” is a thorn in the flesh of all mankind.
