Just one more day until what I call, DOOM’s Day!
What I find so interesting and frankly, disconcerting, is that so much emphasis is placed upon the Presidential race. Why is that do you think? I think it has a great deal to do with the attitudes of the public in general who are looking for a “quick fix” and so they believe by putting more power into the hands of one individual they can get the desired effect much more quickly.
The problem is that the desired effect they have in mind will likely not be what they end up with and once they have sold their collective souls to their idealized savior, they will end up with the unintended consequence of having subjugated themselves to someone whose intentions are less than honorable. As it as been well said, no dictator has ever come to power without the consent of the people. I suppose they thought the dictator had good intentions but invariably dictatorial rule is almost always malevolent and self serving.
In the U.S. the power of the people is represented by the Congress but most of them are more interested in maintaining their office with all it’s cushy benefits so, they have transferred their power to the Executive branch so they can, more or less, have deny-ability. They don’t want to take the blame or the credit so as not to jeopardize they office. They just payoff their constituents with gifts from on high, (i.e. sending federal dollars to their districts or state) and then yield to the desires of the powerful lobbyists bribing them to pass laws favorable to their particular industry regardless of the loss of freedom, choice or any other damage it may inflict upon their constituents back home.
We ought to be much more concerned about the President having too much power and what we can do to diminish that power by electing representatives who believe in personal freedom, liberty, sound money and limited government. Instead all the focus, much of it media driven, is on one single office, that of the Presidency! It’s totally out of balance!
Until the American people change their principles and come to believe in the principles we were founded upon and quit demanding things from the government that we should be doing ourselves, there is little hope that anything will change. And while there is a liberty movement afoot, it is likely going to be too little too late. I believe we will have to hit rock bottom before the people wake up and realize that they are responsible for creating the monster that has wrecked their lives and their country.
So again, as I said in my previous blog post, if you really do believe in the principles of liberty, self determinism, sound money, limited government and non-interventionism (letting the citizens of other countries determine their own affairs and the US minding their own business) then you should be voting for Libertarian candidates because there is NO hope that the Republican or Democratic parties can be redeemed. They are fallen and they can’t get up.
