I was recently watching an HBO presentation called “The Latin Explosion: A New America” and one part of the program delved into the political realm pointing out how desperate politicians are to get the “Latino vote” and how that gives latinos power and influence. Entertainers like Pitbull and other latino performers have ads encouraging their fellow Latino Americans to vote because that’s “power”.
Unfortunately, they, just as many other americans of any other ethnicity, have been fooled into believing that their vote counts, not realizing that what it counts for is not what they think it counts for. They are but pawns voting for their overlords just like all the other citizens of the Realm and they are simply being used by the political elite as a resource; another spigot of revenue pouring into the government coffers to feed to insatiable hunger of an ever growing and all powerful Leviathan that wants complete control over all its subjects within the Realm. (and outside the Realm as well)
So I would like only to say this to my fellow latino Americans; voting for others to rule over you will likely not turn out to be “power” for you but it will be for your overlords. But as long as you keep voting for the establishment candidate, whether Democrat or Republican (or other) and wave your Star Spangled Banner wildly overhead; cheer for the soldiers and above all be a good citizen by paying your taxes you should be just fine…. for a while anyway.
On the other hand, should you ever cross your overlords by standing up for your right to not be groped just because you want to travel by airliner; or your right to do with your own body what you want – drinking what you want, smoking what you want or even drinking RAW MILK if you want; or your right to raise your children and educate them how you think best; or your right to do as you wish with your own property; or your right to marry without getting permission from the government; or your right to keep what your earn and not have it stolen by the government under threat of violence; or your right to pass on your property to your posterity without being taxed out of it; or your right to not be conscripted or have your children conscripted to fight immoral wars for the government and kill people who have not attacked you; or your right to keep and bear arms to protect yourself and your family; or your right to keep your property and not have it stolen by thugs using “imminent domain” laws; or the right to not have your privacy invaded without justification or warrant; or the right to….. I could go on and on of course but anyway, things might not go so well for you then.
Is the right to vote really a power or is it the relinquishment of power? Something to ponder I think.
Most people seem to believe the State is necessary for a functioning “society” and have accepted its existence as something that is normative to every culture, past or present and it seems incomprehensible that there is any alternative at all. But it would be a mistake to assume that all societies have existed as “States” historically speaking.
It’s not my purpose to give a history lesson here, you’ll have to do that research on your own. What I do want to do here is to simply point out some things I believe most people find objectionable that only exist because the State exists. So let’s do some “Cause and Effect” analysis.
THE STATE: “…the State is that organization in society which attempts to maintain a monopoly of the use of force and violence in a given territorial area; in particular, it is the only organization in society that obtains its revenue not by voluntary contribution or payment for services rendered but by coercion. While other individuals or institutions obtain their income by production of goods and services and by the peaceful and voluntary sale of these goods and services to others, the State obtains its revenue by the use of compulsion; that is, by the use and the threat of the jailhouse and the bayonet.3 Having used force and violence to obtain its revenue, the State generally goes on to regulate and dictate the other actions of its individual subjects. One would think that simple observation of all States through history and over the globe would be proof enough of this assertion; but the miasma of myth has lain so long over State activity that elaboration is necessary.” From Anatomy of the State – by Murray Rothbard
|The State – Cause||Definition||Effect|
|Power to Tax||Taxation is theft – Under threat of violence, what belongs to one is taken by force and then dispersed by the appointed overlords throughout the bureaucracy for themselves and to use however they see fit.||Imprisonment or fines for not letting the government steal your money – less money in the economy – money disbursed to corrupt politicians and their favorite cartels – Malinvestment: Government doesn’t operate on a profit loss basis therefore they invest in many programs and subsidise businesses that would otherwise fail in the free market – negative psychological effect of having one’s possessions and or income taken with no possibility of retribution against the all powerful state – making everyone else poorer and less free.|
|Power To Create Armies and Make War – (War is the health of the State, wrote Bourne)||State’s rulers, who have a monopoly on the use of force and taxation, declare war on other States whose overlords have a monopoly on the use of force and taxation in their geographic area. | Just war can only be defined as defending persons or property against an aggressor. Preemptive war is immoral and unjust.||Loss of life, not only of combatants but of civilian lives since in modern warfare massive collateral damage is virtually unavoidable – Extreme drain on the economy as money is siphoned off to support the Military Industrial Complex – Possible Conscription which is tantamount to slavery – Unintended consequences of interventionist policies causing blowback and never-ending conflict with other nation-states – making everyone poorer and less free.|
Power to make Law and Law Enforcement (In Theory they could provide “Peacekeepers” that are there to “protect and serve but this is rarely the case)
|The only legitimate laws are those that are in relation to aggression wherein an individual or group of individuals aggresses upon the person or property of another person or group of persons who are not aggressing upon them.||When only the government makes law their propensity is to make laws that favour one group or another. Many laws are created that are regulatory and primarily benefit and create monopoly cartels – Punishment of people for victimless crimes and or acts pertaining to their own bodies, such as seatbelt laws that are enacted for the benefit of insurances companies – There are no checks and balances as every branch is a part of the same tree and will tend to be more benevolent to law breakers of the same tree – With no competing agencies of law enforcement there is no incentive for police to actually protect and serve but instead to enforce arbitrary statutes creating revenue for the state -making everyone else poorer and less free.|
|Power to Create Currency and set monetary policy via a Central Banking System||Monopoly of money creation and control of both supply and interest rates||Creation of money out of thin air (i.e. fiat currency, paper money with no intrinsic value) and the artificial setting of interest rates causing numerous problems, e.g. the Boom-Bust business cycle; inflation to infinity by inflating the money supply not allowing the economy to liquidate malinvestment causing stagflation – The funding of the Military Industrial Complex for the purpose of Empire building and endless social programs that create massive debt causing the need to raise taxes ever more, none of which is possible without a monopoly to counterfeit – making everyone else poorer and less free.|
|Power to Make Treaties and Create Tariffs (Protectionism)||Created in the name of “Free Trade but It’s always the opposite of Free Trade||The “…impeding free enterprise and creating monopolies at an international scale…” – A form of taxation on consumers seen in higher costs of consumer goods –favors producers who are politically well connected – Further increases government’s power over business and the economy – making everyone else poorer and less free.|
|The Power of State||Oppression||Revolution – Hopefully not to institute another State and wind up right back where we started|
So what’s the alternative you may ask?
Well, I’ll have more on that in a forthcoming post but if you’ve checked out my site at all it should be obvious that the alternative is a Libertarian society which may still leave you in the dark so check back regularly or you can subscribe above and I’ll let you know when I have a new post. My posts are not so regular. 🙂
“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.”
That we live in the “information age” is likely a conclusion that most people, nowadays, would probably agree with. That most people are well informed however, is another matter altogether.
There are likely a number of reasons this is true. Everything from being just too busy and relying upon soundbites from the network nightly news and a favorite radio station or just plain apathy.
And then there’s the internet, which is probably the most massive source of information in the history of the world. Users can quickly access information about whatever their little hearts desire to learn about. “Just Google it!” With a world population of just over 7 Billion, there are over 3 Billion users but what exactly are these users doing on the internet?
If you want to know what they are doing just Google it! I did and what I discovered was that there are many types of users who are doing everything from shopping to listening to music, from watching Youtube videos to posting on social media networks and much more.
Okay, let’s get back to the information issue. There are many News Media, political and other informational sources to choose from. According to EbizMBA.com the top 15 most visited news sites, as of May, 2016, are all Main Stream Media “MSM” outlets and the Polical sites are pretty much all names people are familiar with and I believe would also be classified as MSM.
So, from this information what can we conclude about the information people are getting? Well, it’s just this blogger’s opinion but it seems to me that even though there are a plethora of non msm alternative media outlets online to choose from, many people are not accessing them. They continue to get their information from the MSM and therefore, most people are still only getting the information the global elitist want them to get with all the proper biases, political correctness, obfuscations and downright misinformation they can muster.
Now, that’s not to say that there aren’t a lot of people who are accessing alternative media sources because, as one who IS accessing them, I can say, with a fair amount of certainty, that the alternative media is alive and kicking butt. There is no doubt that more people everyday are getting wise to the blatant attempts by msm to obfuscate the truth and promote a particular point of view which is blatantly biased both left and right. But all that being said I’m still astounded by the number of people I talk to who still just don’t “get it”. They listen to Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin and think they are getting the “rest of the story” but are they? Or are they just getting more of the “Left / Right” paradigm that’s so embedded in the minds of the human race, they don’t realize there’s another altogether different alternative.
When Ron Paul said, many years ago: “Government is not the solution, it is the problem” I knew he was right and that conclusion led me, ultimately, to other conclusions about “Nationalism” and “the State” which I, as a Libertarian, have become convinced is the primary source of most of our afflictions and has been the ruination of the Free Market and the thief of our Liberty.
Unfortunately many still believe that the government, whose solutions have consistently failed and made things progressively worse, can somehow change the tide. They believe that “if we can just elect the right guy; a Donald Trump maybe; surely he will make a difference; they all hate him so he must be different.” And we all know how a “different” candidate works out so well. (tongue planted firmly in cheek) Sadly most have not recognized that when you ask the government to DO stuff for you they will and they will exact a price for those services that in the end, after it is too late, it will be discovered the price was too high.
If we intend to be free we must throw off the shackles of the State and of nationalism, which most have confused as patriotism. The State produces nothing so in order to render these services they must first extract, by force, the money required to render these services and since the appointed government now has a monopoly on these services, they can exact whatever price they desire.
In the US that price has reach over $17 Trillion Dollars of debt and anywhere from $120 Trillion to over $200 Trillion in unfunded liabilities, depending on who you read, not to mention the human cost of thousands of American lives and millions of lives overseas due to US interventionist foreign policy and an infinite war on terrorism which, quite circularly was caused by the US interventionist foreign policy and is ultimately just a tool of the Military Industrial Complex to make a handful of people filthy rich by justifying the State’s alleged duty to keep us all safe.
Call me crazy but with the entire global economy on the brink of collapse and the US being completely unwilling to stop spending us into oblivion, via the Federal Reserve, just who can save us; the Antichrist?
I’d submit that we can save ourselves when we finally END the state and all of it’s apparatuses which enslave us. Then we can create a society based upon voluntaryism, truly free markets and the non-aggression principle. Any government that arises will arise out of the free market by voluntary cooperation and it must abide by the same exact rules as those it governs. If individuals cannot steal or kill, neither can the government. No use of force but to defend one’s life and or property is allowable. No victimless crimes and the perpetrators of theft and or violence will pay restitution to their victims and not to the State. We must realize that the State is a perverter of justice.
Do people prefer tyranny or freedom? Should people be able to keep what they produce or own and use it how they see fit or should it be taken from them by force and dispersed however the appointed group has determined? Are people really less capable than the government of “doing the right thing” and just walking around trying to figure out how they can take advantage of everyone else or do they need an “incorruptible” state to make them do the right thing? Should people be able to do with their own bodies what they want so long as it doesn’t interfere with the rights of others and or other people’s property or do they need the State to tell them what they can and can’t do with their own bodies; what they can or can’t eat?
In short, there is nothing the State does that cannot be done better, cheaper and more efficiently by individuals and groups voluntarily cooperating. People should be free to enter into whatever contracts they choose and no one but no one should be forced to do anything by coercion under threat of violence which, is exactly what the state always does. It knows no other way. So the only answer is to — have no State. It is wholly uncontrollable and tyrannical by nature. Besides, why do you need the State to run your life? I believe you are perfectly capable of running it yourself. And realize this, whatever success and prosperity people in the US or anywhere in the world may have, they have it not because of the state and government but in spite of it.
Still, it seems like a strewed investor would take into consideration that the viability of these new businesses may be in doubt considering that many consumers will likely find the 30% to 40% price increase too large of a pill to swallow and simply cut back on their consumption of these products.
The fact of the matter is, governments involve themselves in trade and “Big Business” involves itself with government which means we don’t actually have “Free” trade. The answer to leveling the playing field, to a great extent, is to get government out all together. It should be understood by now that EVERYTHING the government touches does not turn to gold or anything else of value.
Tariffs have many very bad consequences so before you support a politician who claims to be standing up for American workers by taxing imports, just remember, a tax on imports is a tax on you and takes money out of the economy. Maybe we’ll all get 40% raises to make up for it….Uhmm, probably not. It seems like I remember that it was a revolt against tariffs or something that started the American Revolution. Oh yeah, the country on whom the tariffs are put sometimes retaliate.
